A 22-year-old woman found dead in rural Knightsen died from blunt force chest injuries, likely caused when her own truck ran over her, a sheriff’s official said today.

The woman, who remains unidentified pending notification of family, was found by neighbors shortly the 1700 block of Green Acres Lane, said Jimmy Lee, spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office. It appears she may have been dead for “several days,” he said.

Sheriff’s deputies found the woman’s Ford pick-up truck, which was towing a horse trailer, crashed into a shed on her property. The woman’s body lay about five feet from the truck, Lee said.

“Everything’s pointed to some sort of accident with the car … but it’s definitely not a homicide,” Lee said. “It appears she was accidentally run over by that vehicle.

“There’s still a lot of unanswered questions and there’s still things we’re following up on,” he said.
