A FURNITURE delivery man was killed yesterday after his van ploughed into a parked truck on one of the country’s busiest roads.

The accident happened on the northern end of the Cashel by-pass at Killistafford, Co Tipperary at 8.40am.

The driver of the Renault Master van died at the scene after his vehicle crashed into the rear of the parked truck on the hard shoulder.

Emergency services were contacted by early morning motorists, and the fire services, gardai and the ambulance service were at the scene shortly afterwards.

The van driver was unaccompanied and the truck-driver was uninjured from the collision.

It is believed the victim was on route to Cork to deliver furniture.

The body of the dead man was taken to South Tipperary General Hospital at Clonmel where a post-mortem examination was to be carried out.
