Change proposed in timing of trash-truck trips to landfill
By this time next year, there might be a little less truck traffic on Interstate 15.
Riverside County officials are reviewing a proposal to allow Waste Management Inc. to haul trash to El Sobrante landfill in Temescal Valley 24 hours a day. The proposal is designed to get the garbage fleet off the road during rush hours.
If approved, the measure could offer slight relief to southern and western Riverside County commuters, but it could also create more noise for the homes that dot the Dawson Canyon hills around the landfill.

County and company officials are studying the environmental impact of the proposal, and the public will have an opportunity to comment on the plans at meetings next year.
