Mack Trucks Amongst All Leading Brands

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009 |

“MACK TRUCKS” are one of the best subsidiary of Volvo Truck as they are very efficient and enduring, as “BULLDOGS” are very powerful amongst its breed so is “MACK TRUCKS” amongst all leading brands.

Mack Trucks are the best in building heavy-duty trucks capable of enduring a punishing terrain and the vagaries of nature. Mack Trucks is one of the world’s leading truck-manufacturing companies. We have our headquarters Florida,USA and branches across USA. Mack Trucks is a top producer in the vocational, on-road-vehicle market. It is also the most popular manufacturer of heavy-duty off-road trucks in America.

The journey of Mack Trucks began when the Mack brothers, Jack and Augustus, bought over Fallesen & Berry factory. Soon, the Macks started experimenting with various steam and electric motor cars. Inspired by the inventions taking place all around him, Jack envisioned the building of heavy -duty trucks and thus began an eventful journey.
The first product from the house of Macks was a bus, which was used by sightseeing concessionaire Harris and McGuire, for eight years before it was converted into a truck.

In the early 1900s, Mack Trucks became famous as ever-reliable trucks that could easily endure rugged terrains. Soon enough, Mack Truck Inc. were the first truck manufacturers to introduce a constant mesh feature that protected gears from being damaged osr stripped by inexperienced drivers.

Manhattan Trucks was re-christened as ‘Mack’. Later, it adopted bulldog as its corporate logo. As to how a bulldog was chosen as, a symbol of Mack Truck Inc. is an interesting story in itself. Lore at Mack Truck Inc. say that during the First World War, the British government had chosen the sturdy Mack trucks for transporting important war supplies and food requirements to the soldiers on the front. These Mack trucks, with their blunt-nosed hood, resembled a bulldog. Besides, the Mack trucks were proving as tenacious as bulldogs. These qualities reminded the British soldiers of their official mascot the ‘British Bulldog’. Now, Mack Truck Inc. viewed this as a matter of pride and hence they adopted the bulldog as a corporate symbol to represent all the future generation of Mack trucks.

Since then, Mack trucks have undertaken important missions of national and international importance. For instance, they played an important role in the trans-continental convoy conducted by the US Army, which highlighted the need for a national highway system. Similarly, Mack Truck Inc. played a major role in the building of the Boulder dam. It also played an important role in the Second World War. Mack trucks found themselves adorning the role of prime movers, personnel carriers, wrecker trucks, tank transporters, and more.

Thus, Mack trucks has played an important role in the American history and are now serving the needs of a modernized world by providing various upliftments in the working and manufacture of transportation.

2009 Chevy Silverado Hybrid & GMC Sierra Hybrid Trucks

Monday, December 15th, 2008 |

Chevrolet unveiled its new hybrid chevrolet Silverado truck at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show, and showed us the Sierra hybrid a few months later. Let’s take a quick look at both hybrid trucks before we get into the specifics:

* GM’s hybrid trucks will be available as Crew Cabs; choose either 2WD or 4WD

* Look for a 40-percent gain in city fuel economy and a 25-percent gain overall (when compared to a conventional Silverado or Sierra); cruising range is more than 500 miles

* The trucks are equipped with GM’s 2-Mode Hybrid system

* Both trucks have a 6-liter V-8 engine with Active Fuel Management and late-intake valve closing technology

* Capable of all-electric drive up to 30 miles per hour

* Towing capacity of 6,100 pounds for the 2WD truck

* The only (as of November, 2007) full-size hybrid pickup truck; goes on sale in late 2008 as a 2009 model (update: first half of 2009)

Hybrid Truck Drivetrain
The trucks are equipped with GM’s 2-Mode Hybrid System:

An electronic variable transmission (EVT) allows infinitely variable gearing when it’s advantageous for a truck’s efficiency, but automatically changes modes to act as a conventional transmission (with four fixed gear ratios) when necessary, typically when you’re driving at higher speeds or have increased hauling needs.

The trucks’ Hybrid Optimizing System (HOS) constantly sends information to the EVT, optimizing transmission operations for best performance and economy.

The Energy storage system (ESS) is a 300-volt battery that’s located in the chassis, underneath a truck’s rear seats. It provides power to the EVT and stores the energy it captures during deceleration, when braking, and when the system converts one of the truck’s two electric motors into a generator.

The ESS powers the A/C compressor and the Accessory Power Module (APM), which in turn feeds the truck’s 42-volt power steering system, its 12 volt battery and other 12-volt systems.

The big battery is cooled by a system that draws air from within the passenger compartment. It has an 8-year / 100,00 mile warranty, and GM says the ESS has safety features to keep it from over-charging, over-heating, being penetrated by liquids, and from accidental access to its components.

The 6.0L V-8 engine runs on regular gas and the engine is equipped with an Active Fuel Management (AFM) system. A computer controlled late-intake valve closing (LIVC) feature lets the truck run on 4 or 8 cylinders, whichever offers the best performance and economy for the job.

GM doesn’t have official EPA ratings for the hybrid truck yet, but based on their own tests and the new Tahoe’s ratings, the company expects a 40 percent increase in city fuel economy when compared to a similar conventional Silverado. (update: see ratings in my First Impressions Road Test

All About Classic Cars In Cuba

Thursday, November 20th, 2008 |

Havana is a potent mixture of the old and the new. Modern office buildings punctuate the skyline alongside deteriorating Eastern European residential towers. Ancient vehicles, some with more rust than paint, share the road with newer, shinier models, while horse-drawn carts mingle with motorcycles. Flea markets display Cuba holiday mementos - wooden models of cars built in the 1950s, which are still seen on Cuban streets.

‘Yank tank’, ‘máquina’ ‘cacharro’ and ‘bartavia’ are all words used to describe the American classic Exotic cars in Cuba. It is the only place where history and circumstance have combined to enable a whole society to preserve these amazing vehicles and turn them into a national treasure.

About 150,000 classic cars existed at the time of the 1959 Cuban Revolution when the U.S. imposed a trade embargo on Cuba. After this, international trade was made very difficult, so the cars that were present at the time have been nurtured and cared for ever since.

Of the 60,000 classic cars in Cuba, about half are from the 50s, another 25 percent from the 40s and a similar number from the 30s. Brands include Chevrolet, Ford car, Cadillac car, Buick car, Plymouth car, Chrysler car, Dodge car, Willy’s, Oldsmobile and De Soto – vintage models of all of these can be seen on Cuba’s roads today.

Care & Attention

While classic cars are still used for daily transportation, often as taxis, they have also become cherished heirlooms handed down from generation to generation within families, in some cases going all the way back to the 30s.

Most owners of classic cars spend hours applying waxes and polishes and basking in the praise and admiration of passers-by. Some even reminisce about a time when their cars were new, and life itself seemed brighter and as inviting as an open highway.

To own one of these vintages defines who you are, how you spend your time and how you wish to be known, and Cubans will go to incredible lengths to keep their classic cars running. 1950’s bumpers and tailpipes are recreated and myriad other parts are adapted. Steering wheels carved from wood, hub cabs made from aluminum cans and plastic sheets for windows are common. While such shortcuts would be frowned upon in the United States, classic car lovers admire the Cubans’ ingenuity and their ability to keep the cars running.

The Future for Classic Cars in Cuba

Each day these cars get closer to extinction. They are now outnumbered by boxy Russian Ladas, Volga sedans and more recent Eastern European and Japanese imports. But the biggest threats to Cuba’s classic cars are the scarcity of parts and lack of original factory literature to maintain them with uniform standards.

Hopefully they will still be preserved for years to come, even if they become increasingly temperamental with all the alterations they go through. If you’re thinking of hiring a classic car on your Cuba holiday make sure to make a ceremonial splash of rum on the car’s floorboard for good luck!

Truck Insurance-Advantageous Safety Features For Trucks

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 |

When determining insurance premiums, a truck insurance provider takes many factors into consideration. One of the most important factors is safety features. Having working safety features will greatly reduce insurance rates. Additionally, many safety features are required by law.

Lighting and Reflectors
All lights are required to be visible and not covered. This means that they cannot be hidden by the cargo or parts of the trailer
or be covered with dirt. All tail-lights must be red. Amber tail-lights are not allowed. Additionally:

-Two turn signals are required on the rear of the truck to alert passing vehicles of lane changes and turns.
-Trailers must have rear side marker lights 60 inches from the ground.
-Trailers must have two reflex reflectors at the rear indicating the width of the trailer.

Retroreflective sheeting is also a requirement for used trailers for sale. The total length of the sheeting on the sides should be half the length of the trailer. It should also extend across the rear of the trailer.

Front fog lamps are an excellent safety feature. If they are used, it must be in conjunction with headlights, rather than as an alternative to headlights.

Electronics
The storage compartment for the battery must be sealed and all corrosive leads must be painted with acid resistant paint. Naturally, all wiring must be properly insulated with proper grounding.

Brakes
All trucks must be equipped with a breaking system adequate for the weight of the combined used truck for sale and trailer in operation. Parking breaks must also be used. The brakes must be active on all wheels. The brakes must always be in good condition. This means that any damage or wearing of brake pads, brake chambers, and slack adjusters should be remedied as soon as possible. Anti-lock brakes are also required on all trucks.

Tires
All tires must be in working condition, meaning that the belt is not exposed through the tread. Tires used must be capable of supporting the weight and distribution of a load.

Truck Insurance Companies
Some commercial truck insurance companies such as The Truck Insurance Group and the Direct Truck Insurance Company will actually go out to inspect the trucks for safety before they consider insuring the vehicle. If the trucks do not pass their safety test, they may not issue an insurance policy.

Garbage Truck Acquistions and Financing

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008 |

In today’s economy, start up and seasoned businesses have an unique opportunity to acquire an attractive deal for any type of Garbage truck with the possibility of special financing. The first option, for the buyer, is to visit their local dealer and find his truck there. This is great place to start and obtain pertinent information that will be used later in the data gathering process. From there, it is recommended searching the internet and its mass volume of data that is available. The potential buyer can visit such sites as truck paper and truck trader etc to view thousands of listings of trucks available across the United States. He is able to sort and sift through this vast data and should be able to find a truck, in any city and/or state across the U.S, that meets his acquistion requirements. Once he has located a source of trucks available to him, he is able to contact these sellers and negotiate a deal that might be able to meet his needs. Once he is agreed to a price and its particulars, his next hurdle is to find adequate financing in today’s complex lending world of this commodity.

The type of Garbage trucks we are identifying for this article is the following:

Front End Loaders, Side Loaders, Refuse Trucks, Rear Loaders, Hooklifts, Recyclers, Containers, Truck Bodies, Containers, Compactors, Trash Truckers, Waste Collection Vehicle

Some manufactures for the garbage trucks include Peterbilt truck, Kenworth truck, Volvo truck, Mack truck, Freightliner, truck McNeilus and so forth

Today, the financing arena for Garbage trucks has become much smaller, especially for over the road trucks.. Lenders, in the past, that use to finance this niche market have either pulled their portfolio funds out of this area or have modified its lending requirements. It is not unheard of today that a start up business must commit to a down payment of between 10% - 30% of the acquistion cost of the Garbage truck to enter this market. The seasoned business with good credit might be able to get in as little as one payment down plus documents fees but must have either A or B Credit. Other seasoned businesses that don’t meet these credit requirements, may be required to put up 10-20% down or either put up additional collateral as their credit scores fall below 600. Most buyers don’t enjoy these tightening financial requirements, are locked out of this market, and will start looking for alternatives that are available due to market conditions. In addition to the market requirements of substantial monies due upfront, the conventional lender has modified his risk/reward factor for the failure and possible repossession of these trucks. Therefore, the rate and/or interest factor that the lender charges has gone up making it a bigger challenge to complete the financing end once the want to be buyer locates his acquisition….

As the economy has weakened due to market conditions, including diesel gas reaching $5.00 or more per gallon in the past in certain states, the route of conventional financing has changed as we know it. The lender has acquired another problem that makes their equation a little more complicated. In the past year as the price of food has gone up, the real estate markets have taken a toll for the worse and other world factors have caused the banks to be more unstable, the trucking industry has become more volatile. As the increase of defaults on the payments of Mack and all other trucks have risen to all time highs, the lenders have been taking back these trucks by the droves that are earmarked as repossessions. This has caused a problem with normal lending practices and trying to balance it with a non producing income portfolio. If these lenders don’t act swiftly and prudently, the combination of these two type of portfolios can be devasating to the lenders’ bottom line. A third factor to consider is the off lease truck. These trucks are being returned to the lender and they must act accordingly with this third factor.

By definition, a Garbage off lease Truck has been returned to the lender as the lease has expired. The lessee has made a decision to return the item in lieu of exercising the buyout option. A repossession is different than an off lease because it has arisen due to a default of the lessee for non payment terms or a violation of the terms of the lease. Either way, the lender has taken these trucks back and/and now must recondition these trucks and either sell these trucks or re-lease them.

The lender can either advertise their off lease and repo inventories through their internal sales force, trade journals such as truck paper, truck trader etc or utilize outside professionals such as brokers to move their inventories as quick as possible. Sometimes, as these inventories either sit or whatever reasons aren’t moving, the lender will put these items up for auction. At the present time, the lenders have two different types of financing portfolios to consider and must act accordingly. Normal lending on new business deals still require stringent lending practices based upon the credit markets and the risk/reward factors lenders perceive out there in the financial markets. The second type of portfolio, for the off lease and repos, require possibility a more lenient approach to liquidating their inventories prudently and recreating the income stream for the lenders. This will be discussed below.

All About Trucks Information

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 |

Air bag technology has been a present safety feature in new cars since it was introduced in the early nineteen seventies, and its use has certainly become more prevalent as research has shown how positively airbag installation affects the survival rate of accident victims. Consistently voted one of the world’s safest automobiles, Volvo truck introduced the first line of production autos providing side airbags in 1995. Since their introduction, research results and real world data has influenced the expansion of side airbag installation, so that they are now standard in a select number of vehicles by certain manufacturers and are available worldwide as an added option in over one hundred currently produced vehicles.

Side air bags, especially those that protect passenger and drivers’ heads, have been shown to lower fatality risks for all age groups, reducing driver deaths when struck on the driver’s side by nearly 37 percent. Head-protecting side air bags are especially effective in automobile accidents involving cars and the much taller, highly popular SUVs that have flooded the market in the last couple of decades. When higher riding vehicles such as pickup trucks and SUVs strike an auto, often the heads of driver and passengers in the auto are especially vulnerable because they are often times at the height of the taller SUV or pickups bumpers due to the height difference that is present. Side air bags that include head protection are more effective in preventing fatal injury than the use of airbags that provide cushion for the torso alone and are being installed at higher rates each year in automobiles and SUVs. One type of vehicle that is not seeing higher installation rates of side air bags for reasons unknown is the common utility pickup truck. Currently, over 80 percent of new automobile and SUVs offer head protecting side impact airbags as either standard or optional, yet fewer than half of production pickups offer them as even an optional safety feature. Overwhelming findings from ongoing research should influence pickup truck manufacturers to more avidly install them in the next few years.

As safety standards increase for American auto manufacturers, accident victims will continue to benefit from more adequate protection from their cars and trucks. In order to keep drivers and families safe, ongoing research and development of this and other precautionary technologies is essential. Often times, even the most up to date safety features can fail to protect adequately in an accident situation, and injuries still occur. Protecting drivers and passengers after an accident is the responsibility of an excellent accident lawyer, and it is always in a victim’s best interest to contact one should an injury occur.

History Of Toyota Tundra Truck

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 |

Toyota introduces a longer version of the brand-new Tundra pickup called the Crew Max. It is said to have 400 horsepower and will tow over 11,000 pounds. Similar to the four-door version in its physical appearance, the Tuntra Crew Max has longer rear doors.

The pickup looks very durable and masculine but one distinguishing feature is that it has no truck nerf bars.

Car enthusiasts say Toyota is continuously struggling for its cars to look very American. And this time, the car maker once again proves it struggle.

Despite its shortcomings, however, the Tundra was never exactly a sales failure for Toyota. It sold 126,529 vehicles last year. But that number is very far behind in comparison when placed next to the 901,463 Ford trucks for sale, the 705,980 Chevy Silverados, and the 400,543 Dodge Ram Truck for sale during the same period.

But Toyota has a plan beginning with making the new truck larger in all the areas. The new truck will be offered in three cab setups, including a standard cab, a double cab with smaller front-hinged rear doors, and a true crew cab featuring four real doors with a full-size rear bench. The last one is the first from Toyota. The double cab replaces the access cab as the mid-grade body style. Preliminary specifications show that the new, mid-lineup double-cab truck is only 1.4 inches shorter than the outgoing range-topping model. Also, same amount has been added to the old truck’s height. The bed was added 4.4 inches length, and the wheelbase has jumped from 140.5 inches to nearly 146 inches. So that makes a very spacious cabin, more hauling capability, and an even more comfortable ride.

There will also be three trim levels: the base or the regular one, the SR5 that is the sporty one, and the Limited, which is the fancy one. With various bed lengths, the Tundra will be available in over thirty different configurations.

Tundra will be replacing Toyota’s 2004 FTX concept truck. The production of Tundra’s styling is said to be just a bit better than the vehicles it replaces. The added height has enhanced the truck’s physical presence and, the stubby nose, which is quickly becoming a signature Toyota design element, gives the impression that each and every spare millimeter was put to good use maximizing cabin space and cargo bed capacity.

The interior is a common concept in Toyota; typical Toyota. Craft fully designed but visually an abstract. The Tundra’s designers have placed the shift lever on the center console, freeing up the right side of the steering column for a second control stalk. Options of a variety of heavy technology are also available. These include a widescreen backup camera, a premium JBL sound system, and Bluetooth cell-phone connectivity.

The 2007 Tundra was designed and engineered in the U.S. and will be manufactured in Indiana and Texas. The latter is rightly can be considered innate area of the pickup truck.

Accidents Involving Heavy Duty Trucks ,Passanger Vehicle can be avoided

Monday, October 6th, 2008 |

Even with a limited number of things to move, your car can be too small and it will take many trips to get all things to another place. Launching has been somewhat of an adventure, and although we have not covered even one percent of our grounds yet, things are moving rapidly. We have established ourselves on the Internet and are quickly becoming known in the business. Working advertising for trucks and trailers in the entire 50 states as our main source of revenue our company is doing well. Our entire sales team is excited and everyone is fighting for the top position as salesmen of the month. As we get out there more and more.

1. Peek-a-boo! - Now you see them, now you don’t. This peek-a-boo game is very troublesome to truckers. Large trucks have several blind spots which make it hard for the drivers to see other motorists who like to hang out there. The best thing that you can do is either pass the truck or stay a comfortable distance behind them. When in doubt, check for the trucker’s side view mirrors. If you can see them, then chances are that they might be able to see you too.

2. Brake this habit – Many of us at one point or another gets stuck behind a large truck. So the most logical step would be to change the lanes to pass the truck away. No problems with that … the problem lies in a vehicle cutting back into the truck’s lane right in front of them, then braking for a turn or just slowing down, period. What most motorists don’t take into account is that truckers need a lot of space in order to slow down, at least two to three times the amount of passenger vehicles.

3. Teaching a lesson - Some drivers of passenger vehicles like to try and “teach” truckers a good lesson. Several times drivers think that the big Trucks and Trailers for sale are either going too rapidly or slow. So they’ll speed up to pass the trucker and then get back in the trucker’s lane and slow down. Many parents tell their kids, “Worry about yourself,” and it would be smart for other motorists to heed that advice. Leave it to the troopers and policemen to enforce the laws of the road.

4. Back up and try again - In this day and age of technology, people are more accustomed to instant results and hate waiting for anything. Unfortunately, when big trucks have to back into a space, it may take a few tries to succeed. Motorists should appreciate the fact that these trucks are bigger than they are and let the truckers do their job. Patience can be a virtue!

By exercising a little of that common sense, many accidents involving Heavy Duty Trucks and Passenger vehicles could be avoided. That old adage, “It is better to be Safe than Sorry,” certainly applies here!
They offers Buying and Selling of new and used Trucks for sale & Trailers like Dump Truck, International Trucks.
