Accident closes highway
Police are urging motorists to drive more carefully following a chain of accidents in the vicinity of the Art Knapp’s nursery on Highway 97 South that involved a total of nine vehicles.
Police were already on the scene of a three-vehicle collision shortly before 9 a.m. when another two-vehicle mishap occurred on the northbound side, about 50 metres away, followed by two more two-vehicle rear-enders.
The series began with a pickup truck pulling a large trailer jacknifed and went into the ditch. A smaller pickup truck was rear-ended by a larger commercial truck as the driver had stopped to help.
On the bright side, all involved were wearing seatbelts and no one was seriously injured, police said, although an SUV was sent into the ditch and onto its side by another rear-ender about 50 metres away.
