Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Being and owner of an ATV has great potential in being a fun experience. They are excellent for both blowing off some stress through recreation and countless hours and days of blazing through the trails and doing the off road exploration thing.

An additional thing you can do is to make beneficial utilization of your hard earned money you have invested in your All Terrain Vehicle for sale, which for those of us who is into this kind of sport can be quite a significant amount, by getting your ATV to work mode.

By simply adding a few basic accessories, you can transform your ATV into a practical workhorse for outdoor jobs. Making the addition of adding a standard hitch or better yet a customized three point hitch can turn your ATV into a kind of hired farm hand. Attachments are sold on the open market as discs, plows, sprayers, rakes, spreaders and mowing decks.

By making the addition of a winch and an adaptable snow plow or blade to your all terrain vehicle, you can maintain winter’s snow drifts and icy walkways under control. Buying a tire with an abundance of tread and a set of bigger rims will supply better traction control even without the addition of snow chains.

Additional fuel or water cells can be bought and filled and put onto the dual load racks so that you can get extra weight over the front and rear tires, furnishing you even better traction. With the objective of using your ATV’s snow plow more effectively, you should buy a high quality winch. The winch will be utilized repeatedly to raise and lower the blade in addition to adjusting the angle of attack during the removal of snow and ice.

Putting a snow plow onto your ATV can be a safe substitute to shoveling your walkway and your driveway. It also has the ability to be utilized by your teenager so that they can earn some additional money during the winter months by clearing out the snow from the neighbors properties after a big snow fall.

Additional Uses for Your ATV Outfitted With a Snow Plow

Adding implements and accessories such as these to your ATV can assist you in getting your money’s worth out of that pricey new toy. Paying a visit to your local ATV dealer can help you make a decision what additions you can use for your particular ATV model. They have the ability to even outfit your ATV with your newly purchased accessories because the majority also make available repair and customization services.

Backhoe Company’s Real Secret Of Success

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

A history of setting industry standards by letting consumers’ expectations for product performance and concerns for safety take center stage is Case’s real claim to fame.

What began as a company meant to build threshing machines has been transformed into a major manufacturer of construction equipment. The company’s longevity in a highly competitive arena reflects the success of their commitment to the industry and the consumer.

Legend details the company founder’s initial commitment to producing quality machines and setting the highest standards in customer care.upon hearing of a Case dealer’s denial of assistance to a Minnesota farmer with a broken thresher, A crowd had assembled to see the company founder attempt to repair the broken thresher. When it was found to be of such poor quality that repair was impossible, Jerome promptly doused the thresher with kerosene and set it on fire. The defective thresher was replaced with a brand new, fully functioning model the very next day.

Case started in the construction industry in the early 19th century manufacturing steamrollers and road graders.it was the world’s largest manufacturer of steam engines. as Case worked towards improving the safety and capabilities of farming equipment while developing innovative construction equipment for sale to the benefit of the industry and the consumer.

Sales in their agricultural equipment were equal to Case’s construction equipment’s performance. Separate divisions to better service each market were created through reorganization. Striving for the safest machinery designs throughout their history is another value reflected in Case’s history.they were the first to provide ride control on backhoes and the first to offer this feature on skid steers. Today, a huge variety of Case machines are sold and serviced in over 150 countries throughout the world. .

Insistence on staying American Made reflects Case’s genuine values, and has been recognized in national and international circles. Their backhoes were listed in Fortune’s”100 Products America Makes Best.” The company designs and makes its own engines, transmissions, gears and other components.

Striving for the safest machinery designs throughout their history is another value reflected in Case’s history.they were the first to provide ride control on backhoes and the first to offer this feature on skid steers.

In a profit-driven world of outsourcing and quality compromises, the success and continued commitment of a company to its consumers’ well-being and the industry it serves is an example more should model.

Researchers Prove You’re Faster Than Your Car!

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Did you know that when your vehicle is rear-ended you actually accelerate 2.5 times faster than your vehicle?

When most people are asked about how fast they think the other driver was going when they were rear ended they usually respond with something like: “That guy must have been going 20 mph.”

The truth is 75% of all rear end collisions are less than 10 mph. So how can people make such ridiculous statements? They make those statements because they probably were going 20 mph after they were hit.

Researchers have found that the occupants of a vehicle that’s been hit from the rear actually accelerate to 2.5 times that of the speed of the vehicle that hit you. So if your vehicle is hit at 10 mph from the rear, your body will accelerate to 25 mph!

The only way to soften this experience is to have something that will absorb some of the crash energy from the “bullet” vehicle.

Most people think there are energy absorbing bumpers to soften the blow…but according to the Federal Bumper Standard - bumpers are there to protect the vehicle’s safety equipment (headlights, grill, radiator, taillights, etc.) and are not designed for occupant protection. We used to have 5 mph, energy absorbing bumpers on passenger cars but now it’s only 2.5 mph (allows unlimited damage to the bumper) and only on passenger cars - not pickup trucks, SUVs or mini-vans.

People also think the crumple zones will absorb the energy from a rear end collision…but on “frame railed” vehicles like pickup trucks and large SUVs, truck manufacturers don’t want any “global buckling of the frame” at speeds less than 35 mph…so where does that leave the occupants of pickup trucks and SUVs?

If you have a receiver hitch on your pickup truck or SUV there are products that will slide into your receiver hitch and actually absorb some of the crash energy from the most frequent vehicle accident on the highway today - the rear end collision. And for every 1 mph of crash energy they absorb, its 2.5 mph to the occupants.

If you have a pickup truck or SUV equipped with a receiver hitch and you happen to get hit from the rear, you are going to feel the full brunt of the collision because receiver hitches are bolted to the frame and all the crash energy will be transferred directly to the occupants.

There are products on the market today that will absorb crash energy and work with your receiver hitch to protect you and your family. Take a look around and if they’re less than the price of a whiplash injury (average cost $9,900) they’re probably worth taking a look at.

RV Dealers Facing Slowdown As Economy Stifles Demand

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

It’s no holiday for the region’s RV dealers this summer.

Facing surging gas prices and a sputtering national economy, some recreational vehicle dealers say they are facing slow sales while at least one local shop is in bankruptcy proceedings.

Belle Vernon-based Cavalier Coachman RV Inc. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection earlier this month. The company estimates its liability is between $1 million and $10 million.

“The whole RV industry is … a calamity,”the Downtown-based attorney representing Cavalier Coach. “Obviously, it is gas and the general jitters about the economy.”

Cavalier Coach President Paul Ventrice did not return calls requesting comment, the company is looking to reorganize so it “can weather the storm and figure a way to come back out of it.”

which has seen sales drop by 20 percent to 30 percent this year, is focusing on selling smaller vehicles and trailers, which are cheaper and require less gasoline to operate.

They believes it is primarily the weak economy, not gas prices, that is suppressing consumer appetite for recreational vehicles.

Judy Reeger, co-owner of Apollo-based Schreck RV Inc.,parts and accessories business is steady, the company’s trailer sales are off a third from last year.

“We have never seen it this bad in 31 years,”

Phil Ingrassia, a spokesman with the Fairfax, Va.-based Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association, agreed.

“It’s decline driven by an overall slowing of the economy,”whose organization counts about 3,000 members nationwide.

Wholesale RV shipments were down 17.1 percent through the first half of the year, many dealers are moving to products that are selling a little better, such as lightweight trailers. Rentals also are increasing in popularity.

Recreational vehicles range in price from $5,000 for a basic trailer to more than $500,000 for a high-end mobile home. A vehicle’s fuel efficiency could be as little as 8 miles per gallon for a large mobile home, or as much as 22 miles per gallon for a smaller RV.

Discretionary spending for items such as a recreational vehicle and extra fuel, Ingrassia said, is bound to fall “when people aren’t feeling good about their 401(k).”

China’s New Car Tax Could Make Luxury Cars

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Only in China would a car salesman refuse to sell you a big fancy foreign car.

China is increasing the tax on large luxury cars, bringing the charge up 13%-33%, depending on engine capacity.

The new tax will come into effect on September 1, and car dealers have halted sales on the vehicles in reaction to the news.

So here’s the scenario: You walk into the dealership and ask how much for the shiny red Mercedes SUV in the window. we can’t sell you that car right now. But how about this nice BMW sedan… Well, yes, you’re right. It isn’t really a foreign car. It was made by BMW Brilliance Automotive right here in China… Oh, you want a foreign car? How about this nice little South Korean number over here?”

The dealers are trying to prevent customers from “cheating” the vehicle tax in the next two weeks before it comes into effect. What? Wait a minute, they won’t sell me a car because it’s going to be more expensive next month? The logic of the situation elludes me. But there you have it.

Here in the States, car dealerships would use the next two weeks as a fabulous excuse for an ad campaign. “Buy now! Before you have to pay more!”

The new car tax was designed to encourage consumers to buy smaller cars that use less gas and, subsequently, save oil. Perhaps if the Chinese government wants the population to use less oil, it should stop subsidizing gasoline prices. A 33% hike on the taxes of a one-time charge, like a new car, could encourage people to think twice about buying a gas-guzzler, but, as U.S. citizens can tell them, paying $70-$100 everytime they fill up their gas tanks makes a much bigger dent in the national psyche.

Either way, it’s a really bad time to be a luxury carmaker. You’re losing customers in your domestic markets because of high oil prices. And your sales in emerging market countries, where you’ve had most of your growth in the last few years, are falling because of high car prices. Maybe Mercedes will introduce its first subcompact, or Audi will come out with a spunky rip-off of the MINI Cooper. In the meantime, Laura Cadden’s latest Editor’s Pic is looking better and better.

Komastu Utility Excavators Play Key Role

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

Construction of the Wimmera Mallee Pipeline Project, which is a major investment in regional water infrastructure.

When complete, the new system will replace 17,500km of open, earthen channels with a piped water distribution system of about 8800km, reticulating water to about two million hectares and 36 towns throughout the Wimmera Mallee.

• a reliable, higher quality water supply to farms and towns across the region, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

• water for rural, urban and commercial growth and development

• the return of 83,000 megalitres (ML) of water savings returned to government for a range of uses, including environmental water releases to rivers and streams

• up to 4000ML of water for 11 nominated recreational lakes and other local water bodies in the region with high conservation value.

The current Wimmera Mallee stock and domestic open channel system, including losses from farm dams and town storages, wastes enough water each year to fill the Melbourne Cricket Ground 49 times.

This yearly waste also equates to the amount of water needed to fill 103,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Tim Page, the Komatsu PC30MR-2 excavators had been specifically purchased for the Wimmera Mallee project, which the company started work.

“They are ideal for this project because of their size, weight and power, so they’re pretty versatile,”

“On this project, we are looking after the installation of water meters for the on-farm works and we are doing the second stage of our contract which will probably run”.

In addition to the five PC30MR-2s that Mintern has recently taken delivery of, it also owns a Komatsu PC200-7, along with graders, backhoes loder and tip trucks.

As well as its current works on the Wimmera Mallee project, Mintern Civil carries out a wide range of work throughout the region, including road construction and maintenance, car parks, drainage works, on-farm works, and so on, with clients including local councils, VicRoads, water authorities and private organisations.

“We’ve found the Komatsu excavators to be good, reliable machines,”"And the support through Roger Bates, our Komatsu equipment local representative, has been very good.”
