Chevrolet, the people responsible behind the legendary Chevy Impala, has been making some of the most well-known names in the car business for decades now. The company has a reputation for attention to detail and designing with the average Joe in mind. The Chevy SUV models are not different from that tradition. While some minor variations are present, in general, the Chevy SUV models have the same key features present throughout.
Like most sports utility vehicles, a Chevy SUV combines the load-handling capabilities of a pick-up truck with the passenger size of a van. The cars are large enough to fit a family and a half without too much discomfort but the space can also be used to carry cargo like boxes or small crates. The four-wheel drive makes these vehicles easier to drive over rough or uneven terrain. Typically, the engines for these machines are diesel or gasoline. Their ability to tow things like trailers is superior to more conventional cars, making it ideal for road trips and vacations. The size of the interior also makes it more family or car-pool friendly, which explains the vehicles’ popularity with the suburban market. These cars are also seen as much safer than the average car due to the very visible frame and the large build, which buyers believe will help absorb damage caused by impact with another vehicle. One other trait consumers love about the SUV is that there is room for a host of luxury features, like a built-in MP3 player.
Due to the increasing fuel prices and growing environmental concerns, Chevrolet, like many other SUV manufacturers, has made some changes to the designs of the Chevy SUV models. Some models have been altered so that they do not consume as much fuel, with future plans of making them hybrid cars running around the rumor mill. Chevrolet has also recognized that most SUV drivers don’t actually drive the vehicles over rough terrain, so the company’s designers made alterations to the overall design to make it more suitable to drive over paved roads. Some of the models come with more than the usual four-seat design, going up to an astounding 7-seat design that somehow still manages to fit all seven passengers comfortably. The option of adding heated cushions to those seat also adds a level of comfort not found in the standard configuration of most SUVs.
The Chevy SUV has some minor customization options as well, helping prospective buyers give it a more personal touch to suit their needs. Despite already producing some of the best SUV models on the market, Chevrolet is still continually doing research to improve an upgrade their models with new features that cater to the needs of consumers. Plans are already underway to introduce engine upgrades that will increase the fuel efficiency of the vehicles. The Chevy SUV lines, namely the Suburban, the Tahoe, the Trailblazer, the Avalanche, the Equinox, and the HHR, are still selling strong despite the dip in sales due to some economic and political tensions. Rest assured, regardless of what happens, Chevrolet is devoted to making their SUV models the top of the line and the benchmark by which the rest of the industry will be judged.

Antique cars have been used for several purposes. The term was used to identify an era in the history of automobile. It was a collective name used for the horseless carriage in the period 1880-1916. Today, however, the term is popularly used to refer to cars that are at least twenty-five years old. Although it is sometimes referred to as classic or vintage cars, they are not the same. Classic is a term for state of the art cars covering the period 1925-1948. Vintage cars on the other hand usually refer to the built of the car in the years 1919-1930.
The most valuable antique cars are seldom used as a regular mode of transportation because it is too expensive to operate. These cars are usually showcased in special events such as parades and car shows. If you are a car enthusiast, antique car collection will be a very exciting hobby.
You can have an antique car even if you are running a budget, it can be really expensive but there are some tips you can follow to save a few bucks. Antique cars that collectors will usually go for are very expensive. In contrast, those that do not get much attention are cheaper. You can also look for twenty year old cars that need minor repairs. Cars that are not old enough to be considered antique are generally cheaper. You can also bargain for these cars and get the best price. You have to be patient though, because you will seldom find cars this old in good condition.

Whether you need to haul heavy cargo items or transport everyday luggage or move packages to another place, getting a pick up truck could be just the right thing for you to do. Pick up trucks are sturdy looking automobiles with an open cabin in the top rear area. This vehicle has become popular among today’s car owners for its domestic and commercial utility and flexibility.
Pickup trucks have commercial features like a separate cabin and compartment cargo bed or the rear load area. There are also pickup truck designs that display a well-type build with rigid short sides that comes with an opened rear gate while other designs that has a flat tray back or the so-called flatbed. There are also other special features such as having a mounted specialty body just next to cabin area. Each of these designs may be customized to serve a specific purpose or conventional use of the pickup truck.
Used pickup trucks have gained huge public approval, many car companies today have already started offering pickup truck rentals where the features and services of the vehicle are suited according to your demand. So if you are in need of a pickup truck service and you have to choose from among many options, it is best to know first the services they offer.
You can start by making an assessment of how much transporting help you need. The size of the pickup truck must be equivalent to the load of your cargo. Once you have in mind the right size of the pick truck that you just need, you can start calculating the total costs of the rental service. You do not intend to pay too much, do you?
There are also pickup truck rentals which cover the entire transport service only, which technically means that you will pack the cargoes on your own and haul it into the truck instead of paying the transport company to pack up the luggage for you. This will significantly minimize your hauling expenses. But if you mind the long delay and effort in the packing up, you can just go for the packing and loading services all combined in one.
Because of the growing competition among pickup truck companies, transport service providers keep on upgrading their services for the clientele to ensure loyal and continued patronage. In order to maximize the expenses you will have to spend on the cargo transport service, you need to choose a company that would provide accessory features like security blankets and furniture pads to avoid glitches on your luggage and packages, tie-down straps that will put your cargoes in place during the transport process and some loading ramps in order to make the unloading part a lot more easier and systematic when you finally reach your destination.
The total cost of a pickup truck service is usually based on calculated rates of the total distance traveled, the space consumed by the cargoes and the maximum weight. However since we are not talking about easy money you spend for the transport service of your cargoes, it is best to understand the rules in the rates game. Coming unprepared and clueless will take its toll on you because you might be paying more than what you actually need to for the freight charges. Basically since the rental rates are based on the calculated space occupied by the packed goods, there is a need for you to measure your cargoes appropriately based on the floor space.

The largest manufacturers of heavy construction equipment are located in the United States, Japan, Germany, France and the United Kingdom. Whereas the second largest and less competitive manufacturers of heavy construction equipment are found in Canada, China, Russia, Latin America, South Korea, Italy, Belgium and Sweden. Yet this position can shift easily with today’s ever changing market trends and with developing countries being able to attract heavy construction equipment manufacturers by offering low material and labor costs.
The global demand of heavy construction equipment is widespread and on a large-scale of production with almost thirty percent entering the foreign market every year. This market has been defined by the major flows among the already developed countries and by the large-scale importing by the developing countries with little domestic production.
Next to the United States, Japan has been the dominant net exporter of heavy construction equipment with Germany and the United Kingdom following close behind. The United States is also a major importer of heavy construction equipment, importing in ample amounts and running a moderate sized trade surplus. In a developing world and given the variety of construction equipment prevailing in major geographic regions and even in individual countries, it’s typical for heavy construction equipment to find some use by private contractors and public agencies as well. Purchasing used heavy construction equipment is also an option.
Production designs and manufacturing technology for heavy construction equipment are well established and are making advances on a regular basis. Tractors, loaders, mixers, cranes and other heavy construction equipment containing automatic transmissions, electric controls, engine monitoring systems and many can now be programmed to repeat the same cycles. Other advances to enhance operator comfort are air conditioned cabs, tilting steering wheels and noise reduction devices.
The global heavy construction equipment industry primarily consists of almost one thousand companies, with smaller businesses specializing in small equipment, e.g. parts and attachments. Some of the major manufacturers include: Catrerpilla, Komatsu, Case, Volvo, Deere, New Holland and Hitachi. All heavy construction equipment manufacturers must plan strategically and decide whether their company will continue to expand and stay strong or whether their company should draw back, perhaps sell out and abandon the industry. These decisions have many companies choosing to form partnerships with other companies as an effort to flourish and continue on, as Caterpillar had fused with New Holland to form CNH, Inc. The emphasis is on cost-cutting, competitiveness and down sizing.
There is an increased emphasis on research and development, making the manufacturers of heavy construction equipment seek a competitive edge in many ways. With Caterpillar and Komatsu, for example, being two of the leading producers and spending the most on research and development by using computer design along with manufacturer systems. As technology develops, all major manufacturers of heavy construction equipment will find new and improved way to test and improve their products to stay one step ahead in the competition.

JET engines are now so reliable that a pilot can go an entire career without seeing one fail. Autopilots are so good that some airlines have set up their cockpits to emit a loud beep every few minutes, to make sure the crew is still awake. And navigation is so accurate that landings can be timed to the second.
Jet fuel is now the largest expense for most airlines, and for American carriers each penny increase in price per gallon costs nearly $200 million a year. The industry is also becoming increasingly nervous about what happens when that fuel is burned. Aviation is responsible for about 2 percent of global emissions of greenhouse gases, and that share will rise as air travel continues to grow.
So the industry is scrambling to build greener airplanes — to save weight and improve engine efficiency, with an eye toward reducing operating costs and emissions.
Pratt & Whitney, the engine company based in East Hartford, Conn., is testing an engine with gears arranged so that the fan in front turns at just one-third the speed of the blades in back. The innovation allows the use of a very big fan in the front, which will move more air at a slightly slower speed. “You can either make thrust by moving more air, or taking air and putting more fuel in it, to accelerate the air,” said Robert J. Saia, vice president of Pratt for new engine models.
Mitsubishi has selected the engine for its new regional jet, and All Nippon Airways has agreed to buy 15 of them. Bombardier, in Montreal, has listed the geared turbofan as a choice for a new line of regional jets it will build.

I absolutely love driving. I think those four words probably sum me up best and there are very few occasions when that fact is ever in doubt. Unless a white van is involved I rarely get agitated with other road users. Speed humps are annoying but rather than get angry and drive over them at 100mph and slice my car in two, I’m happy to tip-toe over them. Having said this, there is one motoring phenomenon that seems to be ever growing that I quite simply cannot cope with – the traffic jam. Spending more and more of your time sitting in a pool of your own sweat frantically trying not to overuse the clutch as you edge forward at one mile and hour is not an enjoyable experience.
There was one occasion where I lost my mind completely and it’ll come as no surprise the city of London was involved. Having driven for six hours, I was now lost in a suburb somewhere that flirted with the congestion charge but managed to skirt around the five pound boundary. Brixton was my intended destination but even the road signs were shrugging their shoulders saying “dunno you silly Welshman”. The icing on the cake hit after nine hours – no I’m not exaggerating. Reaching a t-junction that turned onto a 70mph intersection the traffic lights weren’t working. I stopped as the lights were red – a stupid decision apparently as I was met with an audible squeal of tires behind me as a bunch of cockneys skidded inches away from me. After much horn pressing, swearing and seemingly no break in the 70mph traffic I did the only thing I could – closed my eyes, welded my foot to the floor and repented for my sins. Somehow I made it and when I got lost and ended up at the same junction again it seemed far easier the second time over.
Imagine my surprise then when I spoke to a friend who’d recently been to Japan which was already gridlocked 15 years ago. Amazingly the roads nowadays are near-clear at all times of the day. The reason being that unless you own a parking space you can only buy a car with an engine no larger than 660cc and shorter than 11ft 2in long – hence very few avoid one or the other stipulation as modern cars are constantly growing in size from their predecessors.
If the Japanese can’t make the most of their motoring products, I implore you to not miss the boat. A trip to your Honda dealer will have you greeted by plenty of metal, all of which is over 11ft 2inches and doesn’t matter one bit. After all, there are only 58 models on the market that fall into Japan’s stringent categorising system, the Suzuki Cars Wagon R being the best selling with 250,000 per year being shifted. The problem is that to maximise interior space, exterior styling has to be compromised or abandoned altogether. Therefore there are no tapered windscreens, long bonnets or spacious boots, just vehicular creations that look like washing machines.
Your Honda dealer however can offer you the S2000 which is small but also has style in abundance, 240bhp and a soft top to catch the couple of day’s sun we have every few years. Oh and it’s a bone fide sports car. First appearing in 1999, the S2000 has remained largely unchanged which is testament to its subtle styling than appeals to everyone, whether it’s the gaping front grill for the aggressive styling purist or the cheeky rear to curvy enthusiasts.
To start the engine, a large red button greets you, helpfully saying ‘engine start’ to avoid confusion. I can’t think of a better way to signal the racing potential of the S2000. In typical Honda fashion, the VTEC engine revs all the way to 9,000rpm and with 240bhp wrung from just 2.0 litres of naturally aspirated engine, you can even get 30 miles to the gallon if you drive carefully.
Given the car’s handling though, you’d be a fool not to give it a good run through the countryside, top down on a sunny Sunday afternoon. For a measure of how good the handling is, nip into any racing circuit open to the public and I guarantee there’ll be an S2000 or two being gleefully flung around.
The boring stuff such as boot space and servicing are also favourable, making the S2000 a very practical everyday car that when unleashed will leave you grinning like a loon for days. If you find yourself taking a wrong turn in London never fear, you won’t sweat all over your leather upholstery either – the S2000 has air conditioning as standard.

There are several types of limousines available SUV Stretch Limo, party bus, etc. Choose the type that works best for your occasion, taking into consideration how many are in your party and what your plans are.
In selecting the limousine company, you want to make sure the one you choose is properly licensed and insured. Although it may appear to be less expensive to hire an unlicensed limousine provider, if an accident were to happen and someone in your party were to get hurt, you would have no recourse. You can ask around to representatives from other companies that regularly use limousine services to find out about various limousine companies’ reputations.
Find out if the company has a contingency plan in case the limousine is in an accident or breaks down. If not, then you have two choices. You either have a backup plan in mind or hire another limousine service that you know does have a contingency plan. Conversely, it may be you that has unforeseen problems, so make sure you know in advance what the company’s cancellation policy is.
The cost to rent a limousine can range between $50 and $150. Ask the limousine company what amenities are included in the price. Knowing up front what you are and are not getting eliminates surprises later. Costs can vary based on current demand (such as during prom and wedding seasons). It’s worth checking with your local hotel and airport limousine services because many times you can get a better rate through them.
You’ll want to know up front whether or not the company accepts credit cards. Once the service has been booked ask for a written confirmation to be faxed or sent in the mail. Another critical action you need to take is to make sure you are getting the car you asked for. Just before the event, arrange to see the car and check it out. Is it clean? Does it smell like cigarette smoke? Are you getting an “older” limousine? Be sure to have all those problems and questions addressed before the time of pickup.
If there are several people in your party, it’s always a good idea to have everyone in your party meet at one location to avoid extra pickup and drop off time. I realize that sometimes this is part of the fun, so use that as a guideline, but realize the cost may go up if the driver has to make extra stops. To avoid any awkward moments between you and the driver, be sure you know the company’s tipping policies. Some encourage it while others don’t. It’s also a very good idea to get the chauffeur’s name and cell phone number to maintain contact and get a hold of them if necessary if the timeline changes and your group needs to be picked up earlier or later.
Policies vary between companies regarding pets. Some allow them while others don’t. If you need to travel with your pet, you’ll want to know this in advance. Also, if you have special needs such as a child seat or handicapped person(s), you’ll want to address this with the company beforehand.
If you plan carefully and ask the right questions while you are still in the selection process, you’ll be more likely to choose the service that best suits your needs and adds a nice touch to whatever event or meeting your are attending.

Heavy Equipment(HE) comprises of very bulky machinery like cranes, forklifts, excavators, and bulldozers that are very heavy and need specially trained people to operate them. These people are called as heavy equipment operators and are also responsible for overall maintenance and repair of these machines. Specialized in different types of equipments such as graders, backhoes, bulldozers, and cranes, heavy equipment operators need to have skills that can help them in dealing with the changing demands of their job. If you wish to become a heavy equipment operator, here are some things that you must know.
An important prerequisite for heavy equipment operators is the ability to control different types of gears that include levers, switches, turn dials, pedals, and hydraulic controls. As a part of the job, you are required to perform rigorous tasks like operating the mining equipment, or the excavation and road construction equipment that is commonly used to excavate, grade, and landscape the earth. Not that you cannot make a decent living from this type of career; if you are prepared to meet the challenges of this career, there are plenty of growth opportunities for you. But, just like any other career, this one also requires formal training and education to develop skills needed for the job. Specialized schools impart these skills to aspirants wanting to take up a career in heavy equipment operations.
You also need to have a commercial driver license along with a high school diploma its equivalent to qualify for this post. A little experience in truck driving and some know how of construction machinery is an added advantage if you wish to pursue a career pertaining to heavy equipment. To become a HE operator, you should have adequate knowledge of the safety rules, hazards, and necessary precautions as required by traffic laws prevailing in that state. You should be flexible when it comes to learning new skills and willing to shoulder more responsibilities and should be able to work in harmony with different people that you come across during the course of your work.
In addition, working conditions may not be exactly “enjoyable”, as you will have to work at construction sites and other sites in scorching heat. Job responsibilities are not limited to operations alone and you need to continuously keep a track of the machines to ensure that they are in working condition all the time and if a problem should arise, immediately report it to the supervisor. You should be physically strong enough to lift heavy weights and have the ability to judge distances to be able to operate machines efficiently.
